Benz: Raghava Lawrence to join the LCU

Jigarthanda DoubleX actor Raghava Lawrence is going to join the LCU with his upcoming film “Benz”. Read on to know the full update.

In 2019, writer & director Lokesh Kanagaraj was made a film named ‘Kaithi’ starring Tamil actor Karthi. It was his second film and his work in that film was appreciated by the fans and he became popular. Due to reason, he also got a chance to direct Thalapathy Vijay at ‘Master’ (2021) in his third film.

After Master, at his fourth direction, his favorite legendary actor Kamal Hassan was associated with him, and they had collabed for the film ‘Vikram’ released in 2022. It was a dhamaka (blast) in the box office and Kamal Hassan had made his comeback with that film. One of the best things of Vikram was that director had connected that film with his second film ‘Kaithi’ which is already hyped for its part 2.

Lokesh Kanagaraj had created his own universe with these two films and later it was named as ‘Lokesh Cinematic Universe’ aka LCU. Till date, there are total films released from this universe including third installment ‘Leo’. Thalapathy Vijay was lead actor in that film and we also got some connections to see from LCU.

• Rolex: A standalone film
• Vikram 2
• Parthivan (Leo 2)

Currently, director Lokesh is working on his upcoming project ‘Coolie’ starring Super Star Rajnikanth. This film will not be a part of LCU, and it might release in the middle of 2025. Till its release, LCU next film ‘Kaithi 2’ will not start. So, fans have to wait more time to see it. It is sad news for LCU fans.

LCU Next Film: Benz

But don’t be sad guys! Because recently an exciting update has dropped from the LCU. Makers have announced the new film called “Benz” from their universe and Jigarthanda DoubleX actor “Raghava Lawrence” will play the lead actor in this film.

Few days ago on 29^th Oct, ahead of his birthday, the makers unveiled an announcement video and welcomed Raghava Lawrence at LCU with the movie “Benz”.

In that announcement video, we got some ideas about his character. In a scene, he is riding a bike in night and taking a gun on his back. In another scene, he was also seen as a chief where he is cutting a fish. It tells that there will be two shades of his character. One is as a chief, and another is as a killer.

We have also seen a poster of his character where a helmet type mask is on the poster. And it was written “Wanted – Dead Or Alive”. It tells that may be for his crime what he does in night wearing the mask, the police are looking for him. We know director Lokesh is a DC fan, so it is said that Benz helmet mask is inspired from the DC character ‘Red Hood’.

Lokesh Kanagaraj is not directing this film. He wrote the story, but it will be directed by another Tamil director Bakkiyaraj Kannan. Anyway, it is good news that Raghava Lawrence is set to join the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. Presented by Lokesh itself, it will produce under Passion Studios & The Route associated with G Squad. Netflix is the OTT partner of this film.

Benz Music Director

In previous LCU films, music directors like Sam CS and Anirudh Ravichander gave the music score. Now, a new director is going to join for this LCU film. It is officially announced that ‘Katchi Sera‘ Sai Abyankkar will compose the music for Benz. Marking his birthday, the announcement happened. Before, he never worked in films. Recent time, he did two music videos which were superhit and went viral in social media. Now, his work also looks promising in Benz announcement promo. Let’s wish him for his first film.

LCU Short Film

It is official that director Lokesh is also making a 10-minute short film on LCU. It is a prelude video where he will tell how he was created the LCU. Few months ago, the rumor was coming that LCU characters like Kaithi villain Arjun Das and police officer Narain was approach to act on this short film. Let’s see.
